Changelog
Updated ranking method for competition results and added result download feature
- With the assistance of Mr. Joshua Riker-Fox and Mr. Dhaliwal, we gained a deeper understanding of the UIPM scoring rules, specifically sections 1.18.3 and 1.18.4. Prior to this update, there was an issue where athletes with a laser-run handicap greater than 90 seconds could incorrectly be ranked higher if they crossed the finish line before non-pack start athletes. After the update, the ranking method now better aligns with the true intent of the UIPM scoring rules.
- Additionally, this update introduces the ability to export and download the entire event’s competition results as an Excel file. The layout of the results in the Excel file follows the format of the UIPM scoring Excel used for the 2024 Olympic Modern Pentathlon.
- Special thanks again to Mr. Riker-Fox and Mr. Dhaliwal for their invaluable support!
Update to obstacle scoring rules for U9/U11/U13 – retaining 2024 rules, while other age groups follow the latest regulations
- The UIPM obstacle rules do not specify scoring rules for age groups U13 and below. Based on the suggestion from Mr. Dhaliwal, President of Pentathlon Alberta, the 2024 scoring rules will continue to apply for U9, U11, and U13, while all other age groups will follow the latest regulations.
- The 2024 version has a lower time limit for scoring—awarding 0 points at 190 seconds compared to 148.33 seconds in the 2025 version—allowing younger athletes to experience a greater sense of achievement.
- Special thanks to Mr. Dhaliwal for his invaluable support!
Adjustment of obstacle scoring rules based on the UIPM Competition Rules and Equipment Regulations (January 1, 2025 edition)
- In individual and relay obstacle competitions, the scoring rule has been updated from “Each 0.50 seconds is equal to 1 MP point” (January 1, 2024) to “Each 0.33 seconds is equal to 1 MP point” (January 1, 2025).
- We have noticed that in the January 1, 2025 edition of the regulations, the time intervals in Appendix 3B1 (page 94) and Appendix 3B2 (page 95) actually follow a pattern of 0.33, 0.33, and 0.34 seconds, repeating in this sequence. Accordingly, we have adjusted the method for calculating MP points in obstacle competitions to reflect this rule change and its specific details.
Hipenta is now live!
- The scoring rules are based on the UIPM Competition Rules and Equipment Regulations (January 1, 2023 edition) and the UIPM Obstacle Competition and Equipment Guidelines (January 1, 2024 edition).
